Bonnie and Clyde

I am inspired by Bonnie and Clyde's limited edition prints for a number of reasons. Her use of mixed media is a technique I want to challenge myself with. She combines architecture with the use of texture and different materials, while creating a space that feels like a calm, fun summer scene. Through the use of colour and shadow particularly I want to be able to create an exact space at an exact time, while being able to have fun and experiment with different materials. In my work in the past I always restrict myself with one process without combining the two, but for this project I want to challenge myself with crossing over techniques. I have begun my printmaking journey and have been using my prints in order to collage with them. An aspect of my work I would like to prevalent is the use of visual motifs. An example of how I already do this is through the use of the sun/circle in most of my illustrations. Throughout the making process I will collate more and more motifs so I then have a 'bank' of images to use in different images.

I also admire the narrative that Bonnie and Clyde has created with the gathering a large range of image materials. I also like the experimental aspect to these works but they appear finished and cohesive.
